Lockdown Level 3
Business travel takes-off

Air travel, mainly domestic, will be taking to the skies after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that business travel will be phased in gradually under Lockdown level 3 regulations.

It’s not going to be business as usual as the new normal for travel means that more cautious post-COVID-19 operational procedures will be put in place, with major changes to keep business travellers and airport staff safe.

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa has released a travel guidelines proposal in an effort to assist all businesses in the tourism industry that are preparing to reopen in lockdown alert level 3.

The government has not approved these guidelines but the Council believes that they will allow travellers and those working in the tourism industry to get a better idea of what to expect when the time comes for them to travel. According to the Council, the protocols were developed in accordance with authorities on the COVID-19 pandemic and they align with the WHO, NICD and DoH guidelines. These proposed guidelines will be revisited as required on an on-going basis.

The proposed protocols outline travelling guidelines.
